Community Health Promoters
Community Health Promoters (CHPs) are LGBTQ and allied youth, ages 14 to 24, who support Diverse & Resilient’s mission by caring about their community. CHPs build social support and learning and sharing information about living safe and healthy lives. Diverse & Resilient is a public health organization in Milwaukee with a mission to achieve health equity and improve the safety and well-being of LGBTQ people and communities in Wisconsin.
CHPs come to Diverse & Resilient for meetings twice per month. During meetings, they spend time getting to know other young LGBTQ and allied people from around Milwaukee and developing leadership skills through recreational and educational activities pertaining to sexual health, safer sex, reducing harm from substance use, healthy relationships, social justice, and other issues within and effecting LGBTQ community. CHPs also have opportunities to take on further leadership roles by applying to be a CHP lead. CHP leads hold a paid, part-time position that directly impacts program recruitment, planning, and implementation as well as participating in community outreach, special events, and professional development opportunities.

We meet at the Diverse & Resilient’s Milwaukee location at 2439 North Holton Street. Meetings are the 1st & 3rd Mondays of each month from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Please like or follow our Facebook and Instagram pages for details about upcoming events. We always have food at our meetings, and we can provide a bus pass to get to and from meetings, if needed. All LGBTQ and allied youth ages 14 to 24 are welcome in our space, and accommodations for those with disabilities are provided when requested. Our building and restrooms are wheelchair accessible.
