Kate (they/them) is the Adult Anti-Violence Advocate for the Diverse & Resilient Appleton office. Kate began working in this field originally as a Peer Support Specialist for Wisconsin and worked in mental health respite and group facilitation. Then, they undertook training as a Recovery Coach and began using their history with substance use and sobriety to educated and provide support for individuals and families impacted by substance use. Kate has experience working within CCS teams, adult and family shelters, and most recently as a Case Manager for runaway and unhoused youths. Kate is also a former AmeriCorps Volunteer and worked to lead awareness campaigns, wellness fairs, and an internal GSA for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Fox Valley & Menasha. As a survivor of violence themselves, Kate is grateful to be able work alongside those individuals impacted and provide support, education, and wrap-around care to help create safety and joy once more.
Kate is currently back in school at UW-Green BAY to continue their professional education and work towards their professional goals of achieving their LCSW and being able to provide therapy services to individuals and communities impacted by violence and those with AODA therapy needs.
