In October Diverse & Resilient delivered its first program at Golda Meir school. The Healthy Girls – Making Proud Choices evidence-based sexual health program for teen girls was delivered to 22 girls in 8th and 9th grades. This inclusive program addresses important sexual health information that lesbian, bisexual, queer and straight girls need to know.  In four after school sessions, we delved into topics about how to have healthy relationships, understanding all aspects of sexuality, information on STI’s and prevention, and measures girls can take to prevent early pregnancy.

The girls had a great time learning new information and sharing thoughts and ideas on the best ways to practice safety in relationships. The program highlights how girls can stay focused on their own values and goals in order to maintain a positive trajectory for their futures.  In a safe “girls only” space, the girls were able to comfortably ask questions and gain insights to make clear decisions for health and positive paths for the future.

Healthy Girls can be delivered in a flexible format at schools and community centers in the Milwaukee area. For more information on the program or to schedule a program at your site, contact Program Coordinator Bethamie Wyatt at or 414-390-4444.
