FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Diverse & Resilient Cancels Annual Gala, Launches Digital Campaign, and Reaffirms Commitment to LGBTQ Communities
November 19, 2025
Date Release: 19 November 2025
Milwaukee, WI – Diverse & Resilient, Wisconsin’s leading organization serving LGBTQ+ communities of color, has made the difficult decision to cancel its in-person Red Ribbon Gala originally scheduled for December 1, 2025. While this annual event has long served as a cherished moment for celebration and community connection, the organization is redirecting its efforts toward an initiative that will create deeper and longer-lasting impact.
Instead of gathering in person, Diverse & Resilient will launch the Together for Resilience Campaign, a 12-day digitial fundraising and storytelling initiative taking place December 1–12, 2025. This shift also aligns with the organization’s 30th anniversary and the observance of World AIDS Day.
The Together for Resilience Digital Campaign will feature:
-
- Recorded reflections and stories from community members, award recipients, and partners
- Program highlights showcasing Diverse & Resilient’s HIV prevention, care, anti-violence, and community support services
- A virtual silent auction (December 5–8), with proceeds directly supporting critical programs
This transition comes at a pivotal moment. Recent state funding adjustments have reduced vital resources for community-based organizations, intensifying the need for sustainable support.
“We are committed to our mission, and this moment underscores the power of collective resilience,” said Chris Allen, President & CEO. “The Together for Resilience Campaign is our way of ensuring that, with your help, we can continue providing life-saving services and hope to the people who rely on us most.”
Diverse & Resilient encourages supporters, partners, and community members to join the Together for Resilience Campaign by donating, participating in the silent auction, and sharing campaign posts and videos.
