D&R Welcomes New Board Officers
June 26, 2014
Diverse & Resilient is excited to welcome two board directors to new roles as officers of the board. Carlton Stansbury was elected to serve as board chair and Tanya Atkinson will serve as vice-chair. The new officers were voted in with applause and congratulations from their colleagues.
Carlton Stansbury, JD, at Burbach and Stansbury, SC is an attorney practicing in divorce, custody, collaborative law, mediation, and same-sex partnership disputes. He has leadership positions in many professional organizations and is listed in Best Lawyers in America. He is a published author and a frequent national speaker on legal issues related to the areas in his practice.
Tanya Atkinson is the Vice-President of Public Affairs and Community Education for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin. A social worker (and stand-up comedian), Tanya began her career working with youth (and in tiny comedy clubs). She has volunteered for a number of area nonprofits, and is currently on the board of the Lesbian Fund, a component of the Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee. Born and raised in rural WI, Tanya lives in Shorewood with her wife Laurie.
We are also celebrating the leadership of our outgoing board chair, Sarah Morgan, and our outgoing board vice-chair, Gerry Coon. Sarah and Gerry both led the organization with integrity, enthusiasm, and strength. We celebrated Sarah’s board tenure this morning and wish her well with her next endeavor as chair of the academic staff committee at UWM. We’re happy that Gerry will continue to serve on the board. Helmut Hampel remains in the role of board treasurer and Ann Carter remains board secretary.
