I think the person that I most continually thank for their love and support is my sister, Megan. I remember many of the more difficult conversations with family and friends when I was coming out and how wonderful she was. I called, a bit nervous, and of course the first thing out of her mouth was, “Oh my God, are you dating anyone?!?”

She was so excited to know if there was someone special in my life and was so supportive of helping me navigate many of the tougher conversations that came up later on. It just illustrated her continued love for me, not because of, or in spite of, being gay. It was just another element to who I am as a person, no different than having blue eyes or brown hair.
