Intersectionality Among Men Program Coordinator
Jamal was born in Gary, IN, but he moved to Milwaukee in 2003. He is a proud alumnus of Milwaukee Public Schools and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee where he earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism. Jamal first got involved in Milwaukee’s LGBTQ+ community through UWM’s LGBT Resource Center as a student volunteer at PrideFest. After graduating, he served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year Milwaukee where he worked as a near peer mentor, tutor, and advocate for youth at Casimir Pulaski High School. Jamal has been a part of the Diverse & Resilient family since 2017 as an active community health promoter and as a core group member of the Intersectionality Among Men program. Jamal has a passion for making an impact and serving his community—specifically, young people in this city who look and love like him. As one of the Intersectionality Among Men program coordinators, he will continue to make that positive impact in communities of color.
