Dawn Matlak

Finance & Operations Assistant

Dawn has been deeply involved in anti-oppression and social justice work for almost 20 years.  This has led them to a variety of roles within nonprofits, cooperatives, and movement organizing.  Legal advocacy, food justice, cooperative business development, queer liberation, and wealth redistribution have been some areas of concentration for Dawn.  They are an alum of Public Allies Milwaukee (’03 and ’19) and appreciate the power of community-building and collective healing.

Previously a finance manager for two nonprofit funds, Dawn is well-equipped for the behind-the-scenes finance and operations tasks at Diverse & Resilient.  In recent years, they have focused on understanding and navigating economic systems and championing financial literacy.  Dawn loves to create open, animated dialogues about the roles of money, capitalism, and reparations in our lives.  They also like quiet things: baking, fashion design, hiking, obsessively reading, and being in the sun.
