Joanna Harley Joins D&R Staff as Intern

In her first month and a half, Joanna has done an excellent job connecting with the Diverse and Resilient Youth Advisors, co-facilitating the Youth Advisory meetings, supporting and networking with Wisconsin LGBT community leaders, and assisting in project development and implementation.
In addition, she’s bold enough to mix stripes and polka dots in the same outfit and can actually get away with the look!
While Joanna is being stylish, she also finds it important to be working on many social issues like women’s health and ending HIV/AIDS transmission in our community, particularly among youth and African Americans. She can often be heard asking a friend or young person, “Are you taking care of yourself?”
When she’s not at work or changing the world she’s more than likely watching one of the various series manifestations of “Law & Order” or “CSI” with her Granny. She has a warm and rich relationship with her family and friends and spends much time with her loved ones. When asked about her other favorite pastimes, Joanna responds, “I love things that are pink.”
The Board of Directors, Gary Hollander, Executive Director, and Mark O’Neil, Program Manager, are delighted to have been matched with Joanna in the Public Allies’ selection process. We look forward to working with her for the rest of her 10-month tenure.
