Grow Great Women!
The vision of Grow Great Women! is to see lesbian and bisexual women thriving; living healthy, satisfying lives in safe and supportive communities.
The project is a lesbian and bisexual women-led movement weaving together and directly addressing human rights issues facing LGBT people. It uses a reproductive justice framework, recognizing that oppression of reproductive rights is connected to the multiple oppressions faced by many populations, connecting us all in the struggle for social justice and human rights. This integrated approach addresses total reproductive health, access to medical care and economic justice, discrimination, and internalized homophobia within LGBT communities that prevents LGBT people from achieving reproductive health and freedom of choice.
Specifically, the initiative focuses on the following issues: ending discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity; access to culturally competent health care, family planning, and fertility services; the right to fair adoption and foster parent policies; equitable rights and laws for LGBT people including marriage equality; acceptance and recognition of alternative family structures and families of choice; and access to quality sex education that includes discussion of sexual orientation.
