Ann Carter retired from Milwaukee Public Schools after thirty-three years of teaching high school English and critical thinking skills and leading the Madison High School English department. In retirement she has served as a volunteer mentor to new teachers at Reagan College Preparatory High School.

Fai DeMark has more than 25 years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit organizations and for the past 13 years has been working with women and children experiencing homeless, including survivors of domestic and sexual violence and those living with HIV/AIDS. She provided direction and leadership to Milwaukee’s Continuum of Care and was a founding partner of the Cathedral Center, currently serving as its Director of Shelter Services. She was President of Unitarian Church North and is a founding and current member of the Lesbian Fund, a fund of the Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee. Most recently, she was a member of the Diverse and Resilient Lesbian Health Initiative and continues on its advisory board. She has additional board experience and favors John Carver’s policy governance approach to conducting board business.

Peter J. Holbrook, Ph.D. is Executive Director of Leadership and Organizational Learning and head of the Leadership Center at Cardinal Stritch University. Holbrook is a researcher, writer and speaker in the area of Leadership, with an expertise in the area of Franciscan leadership. His interests in the field of leadership include examining the use of conversation/dialogue as a means to foster shared vision, decision making and leadership as well as a means to generate creativity and innovation. He is also interested in the dynamics of leadership in relationship to learning organizations, servant and transformational models of leadership, the change process and systems thinking Prior to joining the Leadership Center staff, he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, WI; the largest Franciscan University in North America and the second largest independent University in Wisconsin. He has over 23 years of experience in higher education and has been with Stritch for the last 19 years of his career. With a background in fundraising, enrollment and brand management, Holbrook was responsible for the overall leadership, direction and management of the top administrative functions of the University, which include university planning and research, enrollment services, student development, public relations, business and finance and facilities.

Gary Hollander is President and Executive Director of Diverse and Resilient, Inc. and owner of Gary Hollander Enterprises, an area consulting and professional coaching firm. Gary is also past president and current board member of the Wisconsin AIDS Fund, a fund within the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. He and his partner, Paul Mandracchia, are active volunteers in a number of Milwaukee special events.

Kelli Jones is a Clinical Instructor at Marquette University College of Nursing. Prior to teacing at Marquette, Kelli was the Minority Health Officer for the State of Wisconsin Division of Public Health and has served on various local and statewide boards. Kelli has a special interest in finding effective approaches to eliminating health disparities for racial and ethnic minorities and other vulnerable populations.

Kathleen Murphy is the Health Services Coordinator for Milwaukee Public Schools and on the boards of the Wisconsin Association of School Nurses and Madre Angela Dental Clinic, a community-based free dental clinic on the near south side of Milwaukee. She has a special interest in the health and social service needs of underserved communities including the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

Diane Pollard was a Professor of Educational Psychology at UWM for over 30 years. She taught in the areas of Human Development and Multicultural Studies and continues to do research on coping and achievement in African American children and the intersections of race/ethnicity and gender. Though officially retired from UWM, Dr. Pollard continues to work on a variety of projects with underserved and/or underrepresented populations in the Milwaukee area. She and her husband, Scott, are parents of two grown children.

Leonard J. Sobczak is the President-Principal of Eastmore Real Estate Management, Inc. Eastmore Real Estate is a commercial real estate firm specializing in multifamily real estate management and commercial-investment brokerage. He has been in real estate for the last 30 years. In addition, he is also CEO/Principal of the Wisconsin Gazette, Milwaukee's LGBT newspaper. A former Chairman of Milwaukee's Fire and Police Commission, he has long been active in Milwaukee's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
