Diverse
and Resilient, Inc. is a nonprofit organization
whose mission is the healthy development
of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender
(LGBT) people in Wisconsin through the development
of groups and communities to take action.
The organization's name is intended to serve
as reminder that LGBT people are everywhere,
engage in interesting and meaningful lives,
and contribute to the welfare of each other
and the broader community.
Since its inception in 1995, Diverse
and Resilient has held statewide conferences,
two four-day youth institutes, five regional
trainings, three regional consultations,
over thirty leadership meetings, and countless
one-on-one and group consultations. Diverse
and Resilient serves as a catalyst to
help LGBT youth groups get started, and
continue to thrive, by providing mini-grants,
consultations, adult and youth leadership
training, and leadership coaching. Further,
Diverse and Resilient provides resources
for program evaluation, policy development,
and program alignment with a broad health
and development agenda.

Madison and Milwaukee Leadership Recognized by Annual Awards

On Monday, April 28, 2008 five Wisconsin leaders received recognition awards from Diverse and Resilient. Among the recipients, an ally, program staff, and programs were honored.
Harry Straetz accepted the Program Staff Award for 2007 for his years of dedication at OutReach, Madison’s LGBT Community Center. In his acceptance speech, Harry shared his appreciation for his colleagues and volunteers at the agency. Milwaukee’s Anti-Violence Project, a program of the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, received the 2007 Program Award.
