The Wisconsin AIDS Fund, a fund within the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, honored Brenda Coley for her commitment to HIV prevention, particularly among African American gay and bisexual men. Coley, Director of Adult Services at Diverse and Resilient, receives the award as part of the annual commemoration of World AIDS Day by the Fund.
Wisconsin AIDS Fund particularly noted Coley's involvement for over a decade in projects throughout the greater Milwaukee area. These projects include City Project while she was an employee of the Medical College of Wisconsin and Project ABLE, a joint effort of Diverse and Resilient, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, and the Center for AIDS Intervention Research.
In hearing of the honor, Coley stated that she was doing what we must all do: "Consider what presents itself as a challenge in our lifetime and decide to make a difference."
