LGBT people experience intimate partner violence (IPV) at the same rate as heterosexual people, yet there is a severe lack of services for our community. Often, LGBT people experiencing IPV turn to friends for support. Many of us have found ourselves in the situation of not knowing where to turn to seek help for our friends when they are in crisis.
A student at UW-Eau Claire, under the supervision of a professor, has designed a survey to learn about what words LGBT people use to describe intimate partner violence, and specifically what words people may use in a search engine. The survey is quick, anonymous, and available on the Internet. Taking even a few minutes to complete this survey will be very helpful in planning services for LGBT experiencing IPV and in need of support.
